Adding New Grading System¶
⚠️ This section is available for configuration by the Educational Institution Administrator.
The platform implements a flexible grading mechanism that allows to adapt the system to the needs of a specific section, subject, or even an individual class.
By default, a list of standard grading systems is already created. Typically, these include:
- 12-point scale;
- level-based;
- emojis (for primary school);
- level-based (emojis);
- attendance only;
- 10-point scale;
- 5-point scale;
- pass/fail;
There are four functional blocks across the platform where you can change the grading system:
- For a Section:
Navigate to Settings -> Sections -> context menu "Edit" -> Grading System field;
- In the Schedule:
Navigate to Class Schedule -> select a subject in the schedule -> select "Edit" (for a one-time change) or "Settings" (for a change in the schedule planner) -> "Grading System" field;
- In the Journal:
Navigate to Journal -> select section/subject/dates in the filter -> class context menu "Settings" -> "Grading System";
- in the General Settings:
Navigate to Settings -> General settings -> "Default Evaluation System".
When assigning a grading system to a section, this system will be pulled by default when creating a schedule planner for that section.
Creating a New Grading System¶
If the standard grading systems (e.g., 12-point) are not sufficient, it is possible to add a custom grading system:
- Go to "Settings" -> "Grading Systems".
- Click the "Add" button in the upper right corner of the page.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Name: Enter a clear name (e.g., "Pass/Fail" or "Letter Grading").
- Grade Type: Choose one of the three options from the drop-down list:
* Numerical — for standard points (1, 2, 5, 12, etc.).
* Literal — for systems like A, B, C or P (Passed), F (Failed).
* Image — for grading with emojis or other graphic symbols.
- Status: Select "Active" (so the system is available for selection). A new grading system can be activated in case there is at least one grade assigned. See below. - Click the "Submit" button.
Adding Grades (Values) within the Grading System¶
After creating the grading system, it is necessary to fill it with specific grade values (e.g., specify what exactly is included in the "12-point" system).
- Go to "Settings" -> "Grading Systems".
- Find the newly created grading system in the list of grading systems.
- Click the context menu button to the right of the grading system.
- Select the "Grades List" item.
- An empty table will open with parameters that need to be assigned to each grade in the system.
- Caption - what the teacher and student see (e.g., the number "12" or the letter "A").
- Grade - the technical value of the grade used by the system and available for entry in the Journal.
- Grade Weight - the numerical equivalent of the grade used to calculate the average score. - Click the "Add" button.
- Fill in all required fields for the new grade.
- Click "Submit".
- Return to the list of grading systems, find the newly created system, open the context menu on the right, click Edit, and set its status back to "Active".
- Click "Submit".
- The new grading system is now active and available for selection in grading system lists across all four areas of the platform (Journal, Section, Class Schedule, and General Settings).
⚠️ A correctly configured Grade Weight allows the platform to correctly calculate the arithmetic mean, even if you use a literal system or an emoji system.
Editing and Managing Grades within the Grading System¶
At any time, you can change the parameters of an existing grading system via the context menu:
1. Go to Settings -> Grading Systems.
2. Click the context menu button to the right of the grading system and select the appropriate action:
- Edit: Change the name, grade type or status;
- Duplicate: Create a copy of an existing grading system for quick setup of a similar one;
- Information: View technical data about the grading system;
- Remove: Remove an irrelevant grading system.
Note:
Only user-created grading systems can be deleted. System types that were present by default cannot be deleted manually.
